Instructed and led by Professors Liliana Gil and Ricardo Cardoso, both Portuguese natives, this program will explore the social and political life of urban infrastructures in postcolonial Lisbon. Students will investigate how the built environment shapes and is shaped by lived experiences of race, gender, class, disability, and migration and their deep histories. Through classroom discussions, readings, site visits, and collaborative ethnographic projects, the course emphasizes critical reflection and place-based learning.
