Kevin Passino, professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of the Humanitarian Engineering Center, is the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant by the U.S. Department of State.

Passino traveled to Colombia and was affiliated with the Universidad de Narino in Pasto and Universidad Autonoma Occidental in Cali in the summer term 2017. The title of Passino’s research is “Humanitarian Engineering Education,” and his overall goal was to teach about humanitarian engineering and learn from Colombians about the development of their country.

In Colombia, Passino taught free Humanitarian Engineering: Engineering for Sustainable Community Development short courses that covered community development and humanitarian technology.

Passino will participate in programs in 2019 with each affiliated university in Colombia.
