On March 4, The Ohio State University launched the virtual Fulbright Seminar on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Classroom. 30 teachers from across Germany are participating. The seminar is a partnership between Fulbright Germany and three partners at Ohio State: the College of Education and Human Ecology, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of International Affairs.
The opening ceremony featured Barbara Ischinger, managing director of the German-American Fulbright Commission, Don Pope-Davis, dean for the College of Education and Human Ecology and Gil Latz, vice provost for global strategies and international affairs at Ohio State welcoming the German teachers.
Participants will learn about the political, historical, cultural and social issues that inform pedagogies for equity, diversity, and inclusion in the U.S. educational system. The teachers will engage in a synthesizing reflection and imagine how to integrate particular practices in their own classrooms. The online seminar is from March 4 – May 18, 2021.
