Congratulations to GOHi Executive Committee Members

Three Executive Committee Members recently received awards and grants to support their One Health efforts.

Shu-Hua Wang (College of Medicine) received a grant for ‘Reaching the hard to reach: A Community-based photovoice to increase tuberculosis education and awareness.’ This $10,000 project will utilize Photovoice, a creative way for the Asian American Community in Central Ohio to share their perspectives and experiences on tuberculosis (TB) through visual images from November 1, 2020 – October 31, 2021. The goal is to empower the community to raise awareness for TB prevention and care and to promote culturally relevant tuberculosis education and screening. Karen Jiobu, interim director of the Asian American Community Services, is the primary investigator and applicant agency. The multiple primary investigators are Maria Brunette, PhD, associate professor, School of Health and Rehab Sciences, College of Medicine and Shu-Hua Wang, MD, MPH, professor of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine.

Amanda Berrian (College of Veterinary Medicine) was one of 12 faculty (from 56 applications) to receive a 2020-2021 Impact Research Grant Award from the Office of Outreach and Engagement. This award will allow Berrian to conduct a comprehensive impact evaluation of the 2020 Global One Health Conference, furthering GOHi’s strategic goal of outreach/extension, bridging our local and global communities, as well as providing useful metrics of these activities.
