Several Buckeyes, including four first-year students, gathered at the China Gateway for the first Buckeye Night mixer in Shanghai, China. During the mixer, old and new Buckeyes mingled with each other creating a special gathering for the first-year students as they have not had the chance to go to campus.
During the mixer, senior Mao Jianqiao told his experience of virtually studying as a computer science engineering major and his knowledge about selecting courses in the College of Engineering to the four freshmen. Alumna Wu Yu shared her path from Ohio State to Oxford as a former Arabic major who was always the only Chinese student in her Arabic classes.
The four freshmen Buckeyes who have not been to the U.S. and Ohio State all said they gained a well-rounded impression on Ohio State at the mixer and that they were looking forward to campus life.
The China Gateway will host two more mixers for Ohio State students and alumni. Register for the April mixer or the May mixer.
