Last year, as a way to continue engaging with its stakeholders during a time of physical distancing, the Brazil Gateway team launched a series of webinars that took place during the spring and summer of 2020.
The webinar series will continue this summer. The Brazil Gateway will host three webinars on diverse topics during the month of June.
The first event will take place June 2, 1 p.m. EDT and will feature Daniel Amgarten, co-founder and CEO of campus b, an international education organization based in Brazil. Amgarten will discuss how multicultural teams can work together on real problems using a project-based learning approach.
On June 16, 5 p.m. EDT, the webinar will focus on the graduate student experience. Current graduate student, Karina Ribeiro, will speak about her experience as a student and as a graduate assistant. She will also talk about the different student organizations she was involved with, as well as her internship and her offer to come back to the United States for work.
The final webinar will take place on June 23, 5 p.m. EDT and will cover Brazil's contemporary comics industry. Two presenters, Aline Zouvi, who is currently working on her first graphic novel for the prestigious Brazilian publishing house Companhia das Letras, and Fernando Morato, who teaches literature in Brazil, will share changes in the comics industry on how they are now published, bought and read. The discussion will help the audience understand basic questions related to the way the Brazilian population engages with comics.
