Autumn 2021 international student services update

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) is excited to welcome you back to campus this fall! Please take a moment to read through the following updates to our business hours, student immigration advising schedule and procedures so we can assist you in the most efficient manner.

Advising

Immigration coordinators will be available for 15-minute Zoom advising appointments Monday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. You can schedule an appointment online. Examples of when a virtual appointment may be more effective include: Change of level, CPT, OPT/OPT document checks, reduced course load, travel/visa questions, etc.

Limited in-person advising will be available by appointment only. You can schedule an appointment online. Examples of when an in-person appointment may be more effective: Change of status requests (i.e. H-4 to F-1), ITIN, Employment Verification Letter signatures, etc.

University mask guidelines

Currently, the university’s mask requirements are based on each individual’s vaccination status:

  • Students, faculty, staff and visitors to all Ohio State campuses and medical facilities are required to wear masks indoors, regardless of their vaccination status.
  • Individuals who are not vaccinated should wear masks outdoors if not able to physically distance.
  • For more information visit osu.edu/personal-protection-hygiene.

Document drop off

There is a drop off box outside the front door of the Office of International Affairs in Enarson Classroom Building. You can drop off documents, such as Employment Verification Letters, in the box any time Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. You will receive an email to schedule a pick-up appointment after your form has been signed.

Please do not drop off I-20s or DS-2019s for travel signatures in the box—please see below for further instructions.

Document pick up

Limited document pick up times will be available Monday-Friday by appointment only. Once your document has been processed, an immigration coordinator will email you with a link to schedule.  Please do not schedule an appointment until you have received confirmation from an immigration coordinator that your documents are ready.

Processing time

It can take up to five business days to process documents. Please plan ahead.

Travel signatures

Due to COVID-19, we will issue a new immigration document but will no longer sign current documents. You can request to pick up your documents at the front desk (by appointment only), have them mailed to you via USPS (no cost), or express mailed visa eShip Global (additional cost).
