Federal government rescinds international student guidance

The U.S. Government on Tuesday rescinded a policy announced last week by the U.S. Student and Visitor Exchange Program (SEVP) that prohibited international students who only take online/distance learning courses this fall from remaining in the United States.

Ohio State issued a statement about the announcement and is encouraged that the federal government will be maintaining flexibility for international students. The statement can viewed at Ohio State News.

The Office of International Affairs anticipates further guidance from SEVP and an update will be sent to international students.

The Frequently Asked Questions for new and current international students will be updated as more information becomes available. Students can contact immigration coordinators with questions at iss@osu.edu.
