On June 25, the Brazil Gateway hosted its first virtual pre-departure orientation event in collaboration with the Office of Student Academic Success and the Office of Academic Affairs.

In addition to Ohio State staff who presented important information and updates for the autumn semester, Brazilian students and alumni also shared their experience.

Luiza Correa, graduate student and vice president for the Brazilian Student Association (BRASA) shared how important it is to engage with this student organization; Gabriela Cecchini, undergraduate alumna, told the group her experience as a student athlete, and Renato Miotto, who was a visiting scholar during 2019 at Ohio State, explained how doing research at Ohio State works.

About eight incoming undergraduate and graduate students as well as visiting scholars joined the event to hear about Ohio State including the steps for a successful term. Approximately 20 Brazilian candidates were admitted to Ohio State for autumn. If you are one of them and could not attend the virtual event, you can watch the video recording online.
