China Gateway Creates Career Networking Opportunities

To continue connecting Buckeyes with resources and networking opportunities in this unprecedented time, the China Gateway introduced a series of virtual career events to support career development as well as to engage alumni in China. The virtual events include alumni career talks, employer informational sessions and an online career fair.

Mars, a global manufacturer of confectionery, pet food and other food products and animal care services, hosted their virtual information session on May 20. More than 40 Ohio State students and alumni registered to join. During the session, guest speakers introduced the overview of the fast-moving consumer goods industry in China, discussed what talents they are seeking, and shared practical advice including how to prepare for virtual interviews and tips on job-seeking techniques.

The second virtual alumni career talk took place on May 22 with nearly 30 student participants from Ohio State. Jiajie Yuan, senior consultant at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Kelin Chen, co-founder of Parents Chat, and Yuxuan Wang, marketing operation manager at 3M, shared their own professional experiences and discussed approaches to identify the employer that suits an individual’s career goals. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the alumni at the end of the session.
