Brazil Gateway launches a webinar series

The Brazil Gateway team launched a series of webinars to take place this spring and summer on a variety of topics. Webinars will happen every week on Wednesdays, at 12 p.m. EST.

“These webinars are not only a great opportunity to share information and research, but also to engage Ohio State’s students, staff, faculty, alumni and partners during this time of physical distancing,” said Jane K. Aparecido, Brazil Gateway director.

The first webinar was held by the Brazil Gateway on “How to study at Ohio State.” Over 80 participants joined to learn more about Ohio State’s programs and how to apply.

The second webinar was hosted in partnership with EducationUSA, a U.S. Department of State network of over 430 international student advising centers in 178 countries, on how to boost resumes with online programs and courses. Almost 50 attendees joined the presentation.

On May 6, Marla Goins, PhD candidate at the College of Education and Human Ecology and visiting scholar at University of São Paulo (2018-2019), spoke about her research on natural activism in Brazil, detailing how and why black Brazilian women perform natural hair activism.
