Wallace receives Fulbright Award to Jordan

Lorraine Wallace

Lorraine Wallace, associate professor in the College of Medicine, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Amman, Jordan during August 2020 – January 2021. The goal of her project is to provide evidence-based research education training to students and faculty at the University of Jordan—School of Medicine.

Wallace will facilitate a bi-monthly Journal Club and provide individualized scientific medical publication writing consultations for faculty and students in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She will also teach two courses including Primary Care across Countries and MythBusters: An Introduction to Applied Primary Care.

“Spending five full months in Amman will allow me sufficient time to develop strong connections not only at the University of Jordan—School of Medicine, but within the community and beyond,” Wallace said. “While in Amman, I will work towards building needed infrastructure to create ongoing collaborations between faculty and students at both the University of Jordan and Ohio State.”

Wallace said she plans to collaborate with faculty from both Ohio State and the University of Jordan to create an education abroad program for Ohio State students wanting to learn about Jordanian culture, traditions, education and health services delivery.
