Roberts receives Fulbright Specialist Award

Daniel Roberts, assistant professor in the Department of Dance, was awarded a prestigious 2019 Fulbright Specialist Award to Taiwan.

Roberts visited Taipei National University of Arts from September 21 - October 18. Taipei National University of Arts offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts and a PhD in dance programs, and Roberts was able to instruct all three programs during his visit. He taught classes in modern and ballet techniques, music and choreography, created new choreography for an MFA student and lectured on alternative performance spaces for the PhD cohort. He also had the opportunity to instruct at the Chinese Cultural University in Taipei and the Tsoying Academy in Kaohsiung, a conservatory high school for the top universities in Asia.

“During my month in Taiwan, I had the opportunity to meet several educators, artists and arts administrators. I made connections that will continue on, and I have been invited to apply for the Fulbright Scholar Program next year. Ohio State will also host an MFA student from Taipei National University of Arts this coming spring.”
