Buckeyes Abroad: Maura O'Keeffe

Public Health Buckeyes O-H-I-O in HelsinkiBuckeyes critically examined the role of culture, education, economy, and environment on public health-related issues in both classroom settings and through extensive travel throughout Finland and Estonia this summer via a program organized by the College of Public Health with resident director Lorraine Wallace.

"This trip gave me the opportunity to apply many concepts I have learned in the classroom and develop a global perspective on healthcare," reflects Maura O'Keeffe, a public health major. "I had a wonderful time and highly recommend people study abroad to gain the first-hand experience that cannot be taught in a classroom. I had a awesome experience and I’m sad it’s over!"

15 Ohio State students looked at global public health and discussed links between public health, educational, social and economic development with special emphasis on Finnish and Estonian societies.
