Ohio State expects to welcome close to 2,100 new international students to the Buckeye family this autumn semester – a record number for the university.

Out of the total number of students, 805 are graduate and professional students and 1,327 are undergraduate students.

The new students represent a total of 67 different countries including Australia, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Columbia, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkey.

The leading home countries for the new international students are China (1,515), India (204), South Korea (94), Taiwan (26) and Malaysia (23).

The Office of International Affairs plans and organizes orientation for international students once they arrive at Ohio State to help them prepare and acclimate to life in Columbus and at an American university.

During orientation, students receive important information regarding campus safety, student legal services, health and wellness, immigration regulations, cultural adjustment and useful academic resources available to students.

The global engagement team, with the help of student orientation leaders, coordinates a series of events and activities that will take place from July 30 - August 24. New international students have the opportunity to go on campus tours, have group lunches at local spots, go shopping, attend sporting events and visit surrounding neighborhoods.
