Engineering Professor Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award

Halil Sezen, professor in Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering in the College of Engineering, was recently awarded the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant, which will allow for multiple visits.

Sezen will be travelling to Doha, Qatar on two or three separate visits over the next two years and will be affiliated with Qatar University during his Fulbright.

His research, titled, “Retrofit of Deteriorating and Vulnerable Infrastructure using Fiber Reinforced Polymers,” will involve investigation of fiber reinforced polymer and shape memory alloy materials for retrofit and other structural engineering applications.

In order to conduct his Fulbright research, Sezen will collaborate with host researchers and utilize the state-of-the-art material-testing laboratories at Qatar University.
