Moritz’ Kaminski Awarded Fulbright-Schuman Innovation Grant

Margot Kaminski, assistant professor in the Moritz College of Law, was recently awarded the prestigious new Fulbright-Schuman Innovation Grant to complete research in Europe from January - June 2018.

Kaminski’s research titled, “Trans-Atlantic Approaches to Governing Sensor Privacy,” will investigate and contest the already-challenged transnational approach to privacy governance between the United States and the European Union.

Kaminski will focus on trans-Atlantic solutions to newly arising problems of sensor surveillance through comparative studies of regulations in the United States and the European Union, and assessment of mechanisms for achieving interoperability between the two systems.

During the first half of her Fulbright, Kaminski will be in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Institute for Information Law in the University of Amsterdam. She will then travel to Pisa, Italy to complete her research at the DIRPOLIS Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

The Fulbright-Shuman Innovation Grants focus on supporting work that increases transatlantic understanding of in the U.S.-EU relationship, predominantly with issues in policy and technology.
