New education abroad opportunity in Brazil

Curitiba, Paraná;Ohio State has partnered with Brazilian Experience to offer a semester of cultural immersion in Curitiba, Brazil at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). The city of Curitiba (population almost 2 million) is the capital of the state of Paraná, the largest city in the southern part of the country, and it is a "sister city" of Columbus, Ohio.

The program will start on January 23, 2018 and end on June 29, 2018 and will fulfill the GE requirement in foreign language in one semester. Students will take three intensive Portuguese courses plus two culture courses taught in English for a total of 18 credit hours.

Students will take classes at UFPR, the oldest university in Brazil known for its major cultural and historical contributions to the state of Paraná, and they will live with host families. Students will broaden their understanding of Brazil not only in the classroom but also while participating in cultural activities and excursions, volunteering in the community and living with a local family.

The cost of the program for spring semester 2018 is estimated to be $7,510 and will include tuition, accommodations and two meals per day with a host family. Airfare, cost of the Brazilian student visa, some meals, books/supplies personal expenses and independent travel are not included in the program fee. Students are required to make their own individual international airfare arrangements.
