Mandela Fellows To Share Vision for Progress and Change in Africa

Mandela Washington FellowsOhio State's visiting Mandela Washington Fellows will share their visions for Progress and Change in Africa on July 27 at 9 a.m. in Page Hall 20.

For the last month, 25 Mandela Washington Fellows have been engaged in a Public Management Institute co-hosted by the Glenn College of Public Affairs and the Center for African Studies. The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship program of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and support for activities in their communities. You can follow their activities at https://oia.osu.edu/yali. As part of the program, Fellows develop and deliver Ignite talks, short 3-5 minute presentations which articulate their personal vision around specific themes. Many of these will be shared at the Presidential Summit in Washington in early August.

Fellows will present their Ignite talks Wednesday, July 27, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Page Hall, Room 20 on the The Ohio State University campus. Talks will address medical, food security, and social justice themes. Please see Progress and Change in Africa for a list of the presentations.
