Ethiopian Delegation Visits the College of Education and Human Ecology

A delegation from Addis Ababa University (AAU), Ethiopia's flagship university, met with faculty and leadership at the College of Education and Human Ecology in early September. The meeting was a part of the delegation's three-day visit to Ohio State. Led by Jeilu Oumar, academic vice president of AAU, the goal of the visit was to expand the existing AAU/Ohio State One Health partnership initiative, to include teacher training in Ethiopia to build research capacity in education and the social sciences.

Ann O'Connell, director of the College of Education and Human Ecology's Research Methodology Center and professor of quantitative research, evaluation and methodology, hosted the delegation at EHE, having spent seven months at AAU as a Fulbright Scholar in 2013-2014. O'Connell hopes to encourage Ohio State faculty and students to get involved in the partnership through teaching online to support the development of research method skills at AAU, advising Ph.D. students at AAU or traveling to AAU to teach, serve as an external examiner during dissertation defenses or provide public lectures. To discuss these opportunities further, please contact Ann O'Connell.
