Photography exhibit honors winning entries

The 2013 International Photography Exhibition, on display in the East Art Lounge of the Ohio Union, features 40 original photographs taken overseas by 31 Ohio State students, staff, faculty and visiting scholars who come from seven different countries.

Photographs in the exhibition were first submitted in three categories to the International Photography Competition, an annual contest open to all members of the Ohio State campus community. The judging panel was composed of three members who reviewed all entries in the competition on the basis of artistic expression, creativity, originality, and quality of image. The judges honored one selection with the overall Best in Show award and selected first, second, and third place winners in People, Places and Food.

Additionally, 30 photographs were awarded honorable mention recognition. More than 80 members of the campus community (10 faculty members, 10 staff, 20 graduate students and 40 undergraduate students) submitted 200 photographs across the three categories.

The exhibition features a new record of photograph locations with photographs taken in 21 countries, including Austria, Bolivia, Cameroon, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, Fiji, France, Ghana, Honduras, India, Italy, Malaysia, Namibia, Nepal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, and eleven in China.
