Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship Endowed Fund was established September 1, 1999 with a $1 million gift from the Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation. Over the last 20 years, scholarships in the amount of $2,500 have been distributed annually to over 400 undergraduate students. The Wolfe Scholarship, which is administered by the Office of International Affairs, is the cornerstone of Ohio State's education abroad programs and helps to enhance the educational experience of Ohio State students.

In 2009, Wolfe presented another $1 million gift to the university, which doubled the endowment that supports the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarships. The financial support of these scholarships has changed the lives of a growing number of students who have had the opportunity to participate in long-term study abroad programs.

Preference will be given to students who have limited or no international travel experience prior to participating in the global education program referenced in this application.

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students attending Ohio State in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

  • Being an Ohio resident, who has graduated from an Ohio high school
  • Having a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Second-year, third-year or fourth-year standing at the time of the global education program
  • Acceptance or application to an Ohio State approved Global Education program started

Students must have started a global education application for an Ohio State approved global education program to the Office of International Affairs prior to the scholarship common application deadline.

Students may apply to the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship while they are awaiting program application results. If the student is selected to receive the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship, it cannot be awarded until the student is officially accepted into their global education program.

Visit the OIA scholarship database for application instructions and deadlines.
