Adrian RodgersAdrian Rodgers’ wanted to explore the possibilities of more potently supporting literacy instruction for students and identify professional development opportunities for their instructors during a recent visit to the India Gateway, July 18 – 23. Rodgers, an associate professor in Teaching and Learning at Ohio State-Newark, traveled to Mumbai and Pune to meet with partners, learning centers and multiple private training institutions serving high school and college graduates in Mumbai and Pune to understand the gaps and needs at each education level. During his stay he visited with Aspire Knowledge and Skills, Aptitude Coaching and Astute Corporate Services.

Analyzing and evaluating the key gaps and challenges of the instructors, trainers and students is key to developing teaching methods and creating professional development programs for these institutions, Rodgers explained.

Nikhil TambeThe Office of International Affairs is pleased to announce Nikhil Tambe has been appointed director of the India Gateway. He will be located in Mumbai, and his first day was June 1.

In his role at the India Gateway, Tambe is responsible for developing strategies to support Ohio State’s academic mission in India, serve as a liaison to Ohio State faculty and partner institutions, promote inbound and outbound student mobility, identify funding sources and negotiate contracts and oversee the university’s strategic engagement in India.

Dr. Abhay Satoskar and Dr. Anjali SatoskarAnjali Satoskar, associate professor of pathology, and Abhay Satoskar, professor of experimental pathology and microbiology, visited Nanavati Hospital on March 10 and met Chief Operating Officer Rajendra Patankar to collaborate in digital pathology. Ohio State will bring Mumbai’s first digital pathology system to Nanavati Hospital which will enable doctors to send patient reports to specialists around the world.
