Film Screening: The Ice Cream Sellers

Sohel Rahman’s documentary film, "The Ice Cream Sellers" (2021) tells the story of two Rohingya siblings as they sell ice cream in an effort to free their father from prison in Myanmar. The film Ayas, age 10 and Asia, age 8, across their hot and dusty refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This award winning film reminds us of the challenges the Rohingya refugees continue to face living in Bangladesh.
Rahman will join in after the screening to answer questions and discuss his ongoing work with the Rohingya refugee community.
This special presentation is brought to the university community by the Committee for At-risk Scholars and Artists and is co-sponsored by the departments of Anthropology, History and Germanic Languages and Literatures.
