Ohio State connected with prospective students from India during International Education Week

During International Education Week 2020, the Fisher College of Business, the Office of Student Academic Success - Undergraduate Admissions and the Moritz College of Law connected with prospective students and parents based in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Chennai. The virtual recruitment events for students in India were hosted by EducationUSA/USIEF and Ohio State’s involvement was coordinated by the India Gateway.

The “Majors in Business” webinar on Nov 17, 2020 hosted by EducationUSA, Ahmedabad engaged prospective students interested in business programs and emphasized career options in the U.S. after graduation. Questions for the panelists focused on accreditation of the university, opportunities during the education, tuition costs, scholarship, and application requirements. Fisher College of Business director of undergraduate admissions and recruitment Patricia Jefferson served as a panelist and made herself available for additional student queries.

Marco Chavez, senior assistant director for International Recruitment in Undergraduate Admissions, participated in the “Roadmap to Undergraduate Studies in the United States” webinar hosted by EducationUSA on November 18, 2020 alongside representatives from several other universities. The session presented numerous insights into the application process. Chavez detailed essay writing guidelines and explained scholarship prerequisites, as also provided a demographic breakdown of student athletics in the U.S.

Megan Avellana, assistant director for International and Graduate Affairs at the Moritz College of Law, led a webinar hosted by EducationUSA Mumbai on November 18. “LLM and JD Pathways in the U.S.” compared Master of Laws (LLM) and Juris Doctor (JD) programs in the United States. She comprehensively detailed the program length, costs, academic preparation, experiential opportunities, bar exam considerations and professional opportunities available in the U.S. Submitted via social media and posed during the session, student questions focused on issues of residency, experience required to pursue LLM degree, tuition costs, LSAT exams, salaries for lawyers and OPT after graduation.
