India Gateway and College of Engineering connect with Prospective Students at Global Education Fair

The India Gateway and the Ohio State College of Engineering participated in a virtual education fair organized by Collegepond for students in India interesting in studying around the world. 264 students attended Ohio State’s virtual booth during the United States track on September 1, 2021 that featured more than 40 universities from across the country, including Big Ten schools and Ohio institutions such as the University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Wright State University and Cleveland State University.

A majority of the student population were interested in pursuing graduate work in engineering disciplines. Other students were considering graduate studies in business and arts and sciences with a limited number of potential Buckeyes considering undergraduate students along with some professional candidates for PhD and research work.

Nina Parshall, director of graduate recruitment and support for the College of Engineering and Vinod Rani, alumni and academic services manager for the India Gateway, addressed student questions and helped them plan their study in the U.S. Most questions from students were related to applications, test requirements, application fee waiver, tuition fee, OPT, CPT, career opportunities, scholarships, and funding options.

Given the pandemic situation, students also asked questions on the mode of education, on campus safety, access to laboratories and other facilities on campus. Students’ queries were answered with relevant links and contact information shared through a chat function.

Around 10,000 students from India and 115 Universities across the world participated in four different virtual education fair phases over two days.
