Hiwot Tadesse is the deputy director of the food inspection directorate of the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority.

Tadesse is currently a PhD fellow in the department of Food Science and Nutrition at Addis Ababa University.

She will be working with TARTARE project as a fellow in the risk analysis part of the project.

Funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the U.K. Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, the project aims to develop and implement a risk-based framework for food safety management and resource allocation with the goal of reducing foodborne illnesses and deaths and increasing equitable consumption of a safe, affordable and nutritious diet.
