Ratnesh BhattacharyaRatnesh Bhattacharya spoke as an invited panelist at the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai “DirectLine for American Business” webinar on “Waste-to-Energy: Opportunities for U.S. Businesses in India.” The DirectLine webinar was hosted by the US-Consul General, Thomas Vajda, in Mumbai and forty American companies registered for the event. Director at the India Gateway, Bhattacharya spoke about the role of universities in facilitating technology partnerships with local partners to develop research-driven commercial opportunities for market entry with local corporate partners. Bharat Kris “BK” Rao, chairman & CEO, Bharco Ecotechnologies; Stewart Klevan, technology consultant at Antony Lara Enviro Solutions; and Sonal Thengane, post-doctoral fellow at IIT-Bombay, also served on the panel with Bhattacharya.

Ohio State shares campus update with alumni in India

Ohio State alumni gathered for a dinner reception at the Oberoi Hotel at Nariman Point, Mumbai on Friday, June 16. The Ohio State University representatives Geoffrey Chatas, chief financial officer, and Christopher Culley, senior vice president, attended the reception and updated the alumni on recent developments at the university. Chatas and Culley discussed about the energy deal with ENGIE and the new facilities which have been developed on campus.

Also in attendance were five students from the Fisher College of Business who have been interning in Mumbai with Tanna Real Estate and The National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

Abishek Gupta expanding collaborations in India

Abhishek Gupta discussed potential collaborations with academic institutes and industry partners during a recent visit to Ohio State’s India Gateway. A faculty member in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ohio State, Gupta is building on his current collaboration with the OSU-IIT-Bombay partnership.

Gupta is currently in India to present his research at IIT-Bombay and is develop a joint program in the area of machine learning. He is also working with Tata Consultancy Services in the areas of cyber security and privacy.
