Join the Ohio State Brazil Gateway and the Moritz College of Law to discuss worldwide anti-corruption laws with special emphasis on Brazil and the United States.

Hear from attorneys Norman Nadorff, counsel for the Rio de Janeiro office of Tauil & Chequer, and Michel Sancovski, partner at Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer & Brown, as they share their experience in the fields of international energy law and transactions, ethics law, corporate compliance and anti-corruption.

After the event, the Ohio State Brazil Gateway staff will host an info session for those interested in learning more about the LL.M (master of laws) program at the Ohio State Moritz College of Law.

Speakers

Norman Nadorff is a counsel for the Rio de Janeiro office of Tauil & Chequer in association with Mayer Brown. His practice centers on international energy law and transactions and ethics law compliance. For 30 years, Nadorff served as in-house counsel for major oil companies with primary focus on Latin America, West Africa and Indonesia. Nadorff is a Distinguished Resident Practitioner at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center since 2012 and has taught International Petroleum Agreements in several other U.S. and foreign law schools. Nadorff is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, proficient in French, and has experience negotiating in all three languages. He is currently a Director of the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce and former Director of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators in which he is active in several capacities. Norman lectures frequently on anti-corruption laws, effective contract drafting, and development of local talent.

Michel Sancovski is a partner at Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown in the São Paulo Office. He holds a Master of Laws degree, with the Business Law Certificate, from the U.C. Berkeley School of Law, a post-graduate law specialization diploma from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV Direito SP) and a law degree from the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie Law School in São Paulo.  Sancovski is also a Director at IBRADEMP – Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Empresarial and among his attributions, he oversees the activities of the Anti-corruption & Compliance Study Commission. He focuses on corporate compliance and anti-corruption matters and his experience includes advising in anti-corruption compliance cases, taking into account local and foreign laws, coordinating highly complex major investigations, developing, reviewing and implementing compliance program, and assisting with anti-corruption due diligences in third parties and in M&A transactions. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, Sancovski has been named by Global Investigations Review and Who's Who Legal as a Future Leader in the investigations area, which focuses on the leading practitioners aged under 45.
