More opportunities to apply in January to study abroad

It’s not too late to explore the world around you this summer. Education abroad is an opportunity to expand your worldview, experience new cultures and prepare you for your future career. You can still apply for the following programs with January deadlines (and one February 1) at buckeyelink.osu.edu. Read more for application instructions.

Application Instructions for Programs with January Application Deadlines

As you sit down to access the application, make sure you have:

  • Study abroad program term and program ID code. You may obtain this information from the study abroad program information page 
  • Your academic program information, which includes your college and major. This can be accessed through your Student Center at buckeyelink.osu.edu. In the Academics section, click on "Academic Other" and select "View Academic Information." You will need to include this information in your application
  • Your passport number. If you have not received your passport, or have not yet applied for one, you may still complete the online application, but remember that you may not participate in a study abroad program without a valid passport
  • Your prepared personal statement
  • Your Ohio State advising report, saved as a PDF to attached to the application
  • Names and contact information of the individuals you would like contacted in case of an emergency
  • Your study abroad recommendation, if required

You must also be prepared to pay a $150 application fee. Once you submit your application, this fee will post to your University Statement of Account and is to be paid no more than three days after submission of the application. It is recommended that you pay the application fee immediately after submitting your application. This application fee will be refunded only if you are not accepted to your study abroad program or submit a written request to withdraw your application prior to the application deadline.

As you complete the education abroad online application, you will see pop-up messages notifying you of specific information that is required. Please read these carefully, provide the necessary information and continue completing the application. All fields of the online study abroad application must be completed, or you will receive an error message when you attempt to submit. Please fill out the application carefully and check for errors before submitting; once you submit your application, you will not be able to make any changes.

Upon application submission, the $150 application fee will be assessed to your University Statement of Account. To submit payment for the application fee:

Go to buckeyelink.osu.edu

In the Students section, under the heading SIS Student Center, select "Student Center"

Log in with your Ohio State username and password

Scroll down to the “Finances” section

Click on "Make A Payment" to access and complete the payment form

You will receive an email with next steps soon after submitting your application.
