Mandela Fellows Welcomed To Ohio State Campus

Mandela Fellows Welcome ReceptionAn opening reception at the Fisher College of Business on Monday evening June 19, 2017 welcomed the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders to The Ohio State University. The fellows are starting a six-week academic and leadership institute at Ohio State focusing on leadership and management skills. The John Glenn College of Public Affairs and the Center for African Studies organized programming for the institute that is focused on public management and five subthemes: health, business and entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, and democracy and governance.

Washington Mandela Fellows are men and women between 25 and 35, who have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive change in their respective organizations by being engaged in community development and youth mentorship. The Ohio State institute interweaves theory and practical use of public management, focusing on how public policy is formulated, implemented, and evaluated. The goal of the Institute is both to develop leadership skills and to provide public managers with the tools necessary to work with and within organizations. The program is organized by IREX.
