Seeking Volunteers for Thanksgiving Dinner 2016

Thanksgiving Dinner VolunteersThe Ohio State University will host one of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus on Thursday, November 24, in the Archie Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union. The annual event estimates 1,600 guests will attend, including the students, faculty and staff, along with their families, who are unable to travel home for the holiday. Joining them will be many volunteers throughout the university community to assist in serving the traditional turkey dinner on actual Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed for two shifts from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 2.

To volunteer for the first shift, visit http://go.osu.edu/ThanksgivingDinnerShift1, and to volunteer for the second shift visit http://go.osu.edu/ThanksgivingDinnerShift2.

This year, Thanksgiving Dinner volunteers will sign up on Ohio State VolunteerMatch. New users will need to create an account by clicking "Sign In" in the top right hand corner of the VolunteerMatch homepage. If you already have an account with the Ohio State Alumni Association, you can use that information to log on, otherwise create a new account and log in. If you have any issues logging into Ohio State VolunteerMatch, please contact volunteer@osu.edu.

Seatings for the dinner will take place at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m., and all guests must have a ticket to enter. Tickets are free and will be available on Monday, November 14 in 140 Enarson Classroom Building, the Hale Black Cultural Center and the Ohio Union Information Center. Ohio State's Thanksgiving Dinner began 25 years ago as a gathering of 25 graduate students in the Hale Black Cultural Center, and has grown to include a broad participation from out-of-state and international students.

Thanksgiving Dinner is a Signature Event at Ohio State and is supported by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of International Affairs.
