Travel Alerts

February 8, 2016 - The Office of International Affairs and the Office of Risk Management together have notified all students and faculty members that are currently on a program abroad or are preparing to travel to a country or territory known to have an outbreak of the Zika virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Level 2 Alert beginning January 15 for individuals to take precautions against the virus when traveling to the affected regions. To date the notices include 30 countries and U.S. territories.

Ohio State has current or upcoming university sponsored student programing in at least 14 of the affected countries and territories. The university continues to monitor the situation as well as provide updates to students currently traveling or enrolling in programs to regions that fall under the CDC alert.

Ohio State requires a review of any student travel to countries or territories where there is a CDC Warning Level 3 Health Notice to avoid non-essential travel. In the case of the CDC Level 2 notice, each traveler is being advised to read the CDC information when considering their decision on travel.
