One of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus was hosted by Ohio State on Thursday, November 22 at the Ohio Union. The traditional Thanksgiving Dinner included 120 turkeys, 432 pounds each of green beans and corn, 320 pounds of corn bread and 120 pies. More than 150 volunteers from throughout the university community assisted in serving the traditional turkey dinner to 1,600 guests – students, faculty and staff, along with their families – who are unable to travel to their own homes for the holiday. The event began 21 years ago as a gathering for 25 graduate students at Hale Center and today includes broad participation from students who live outside Ohio as well as many international students and scholars. Thanksgiving Dinner is a Signature Event at Ohio State and is supported by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of International Affairs, University Residences and Dining Services and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
