Thanksgiving Dinner

An annual event, Thanksgiving Dinner brings together the campus community of students, faculty and staff unable to return home for the long holiday weekend. An Ohio State Signature Event, Thanksgiving Dinner is supported by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of International Affairs, the Office of Student Life's Dining Services and The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Thanksgiving Dinner tickets are now available at 100 Oxley Hall, the Hale Black Cultural Center and the Ohio Union Information Desk. All guests must have a ticket to attend Thanksgiving Dinner.

This year's Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 28, in the Ohio Union, expects to serve a holiday meal to nearly 1,600 guests, including Ohio State students, staff, faculty and families of those who couldn't make it home for the holiday. Seatings for the event will be at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please contact Qianqian Zhang with questions.

The Ohio State University will host one of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus on Thursday, November 28, in the Ohio Union. The annual event estimates 1,600 guests will attend, including the students, faculty and staff, along with their families, who are unable to travel home for the holiday. Joining them will be many volunteers throughout the university community to assist in serving the traditional turkey dinner.

Seatings for the dinner will take place at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m., and all guests must have a ticket to enter. Tickets will be available on Monday, November 18 in 100 Oxley Hall, the Hale Black Cultural Center and the Ohio Union Information Center.

One of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus was hosted by Ohio State on Thursday, November 22 at the Ohio Union. The traditional Thanksgiving Dinner included 120 turkeys, 432 pounds each of green beans and corn, 320 pounds of corn bread and 120 pies. More than 150 volunteers from throughout the university community assisted in serving the traditional turkey dinner to 1,600 guests – students, faculty and staff, along with their families – who are unable to travel to their own homes for the holiday. The event began 21 years ago as a gathering for 25 graduate students at Hale Center and today includes broad participation from students who live outside Ohio as well as many international students and scholars. Thanksgiving Dinner is a Signature Event at Ohio State and is supported by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of International Affairs, University Residences and Dining Services and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
