In the photographer's words: "This installation was France's submission for the 2011 Venice Biennale. A photograph is inadequate for conveying the deafening whir of the film reels. However, I think my camera was able to show the frenetic environment we as viewers found ourselves in. The installation had the portraits of hundreds of newborn babies scrolling throughout the building as a reminder of how constantly humans are being added to our population— then the scrolls terminated at one end of the building, symbolizing the end of the cycle. The fact that the portraits are blurred as a result of my camera's shutter speed being inadequate is an interesting one. I accidentally added an extra dimension to the installation itself. A human life is something that can only be experienced by the individual in the same way that this installation could only be experienced by the people who were physically there."
