Zero by 30

United Against Rabies

A global plan for rabies control and elimination was agreed upon and has been published by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Organisation for Animal Health and the World Health Organization titled Zero by 30: The Global Strategic Plan to End Human Deaths from Dog-mediated Rabies by 2030 (Zero by 30). Key elements include improved access to the Postexposure prophylaxis vaccine, especially for the poorest, as well as mass dog vaccination, improved disease reporting and surveillance tools and community education and outreach.

The United Against Rabies Forum was created to accelerate the sustained effort needed to deliver on the vision of Zero by 30 by enabling effective collaboration by a wide range of partners and pursuing a multi-sectoral One Health approach to achieve the goals set out in Zero by 30.

The Ohio State University, Global One Health initiative has been partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other key partners in Ethiopia, through the Global Health Security Agenda to work on rabies control and elimination in Ethiopia.

GOHi will continue its efforts towards the achievement of the global target, Zero by 2030.
