China Gateway Creates Summer Virtual Career Networking Opportunities

In response to COVID-19, the China Gateway introduced several career networking opportunities during the summer including a career series in collaboration with a number of universities in the American Universities China Association (AUCA) and career fairs and forums which helped Buckeyes navigate career opportunities and interact with employers in China.

From July to August, employers such as Netease, Disney Hotstar, Suning, Alphasights, Bloomberg, Hengrui Medicine, Proctor & Gamble, Mars, Ernst & Young, BOE Technology Group Co., ByteDance, Oppo, Cisco, Tencent, Deloitte and L’oreal hosted virtual employer information sessions. Four virtual career fairs took place in August and hosted over 50 employers.

In addition to the employer talks and career fairs, two online career forums were held to facilitate in-depth conversations among universities, employers and students. The student career development forum took place on August 5. Industry and recruitment leaders from EY, Bloomberg, PriceWaterhouseCooper, P&G and AstraZeneca were invited to share their advice on career development and job-seeking skills. On August 26, the university-corporate partnership forum facilitated conversations between universities and employers. Employer speakers from PwC, including an Ohio State alumna, Mars and university representatives from the University of Southern California and Washington University in St. Louis were invited to discuss best practices for university-corporate collaborations.

The China Gateway was able to connect with 300 Buckeyes who signed up to attend these series of events.
