Ohio State students present at University of São Paulo International Symposium of Undergraduate Research

Six Ohio State undergraduate students were in Brazil from November 3-9 to participate in the University of São Paulo’s International Symposium of Undergraduate Research (SIICUSP).

SIICUSP is an annual event in which undergraduate students communicate the results of their research projects. It helps students improve their academic research skills and fosters the interaction of researchers from different areas and levels in order to promote collaboration and multidisciplinary research.

SIICUSP is held in two stages. During the first stage, students from Brazilian and international universities present before an examining committee from their school. The students with the best evaluations are then invited to the second stage that takes place at the University of São Paulo (USP) campus, where the selected students showcase their research on an international stage. Learn more about SIICUSP.

During their time in Brazil, the students, faculty and staff involved in the program also visited School of Agriculture at USP in the city of Piracicaba and met Brazilian undergraduate student in veterinary medicine, Carolina Munhoz Meira, who was also part of SIICUSP last year and went to Ohio State to showcase her research last March.
