Global Leadership Initiative recognized with Spirit of Ohio State Award

Global Leadership Initiative (GLI) was awarded the Spirit of Ohio State Award at the 2016 Ohio State Leadership Award Ceremony in recognition of their commitment to cross-cultural engagement across campus. GLI was founded in 2013 with the purpose of promoting global citizenship and student leadership at Ohio State and fostering unity across the diverse campus community.

Since their founding, GLI has worked to empower their student members to become global leaders in the Columbus community. This semester the cohort partnered with the Greater Columbus Sister Cities International, Inc. to host several events that helped share the history and culture of many of our Columbus sister cities around the world.

Jin Yan, GLI vice president for project leads and student co-chair for Ohio State's annual Thanksgiving Dinner, was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award for her tremendous contributions to Ohio State through leadership, scholarship and service.

Over the past 50 years, Ohio State has recognized hundreds of students, advisors and organizations who demonstrate personal and organizational leadership, collaboration and commitment to better the Ohio State community during their Leadership Award ceremony.
