O-H-I-O, IrelandThe Ohio State University is ranked in the top 10 nationally among doctoral institutions for the number of students studying abroad and is in the top 15 for its international student enrollment, according to a national report released today.

Ohio State ranks 7th among the nation’s colleges and universities with 2,539 students studying abroad in 2013-14, a 12.5 percent increase over the previous year. Ohio State ranks 2nd in the nation for the number of students participating in short-term programs with 2,493 studying abroad for one to eight weeks during the academic year.

Ohio State ranks 14th in the nation with 7,121* international students enrolled in 2014, an increase of 4.7 percent.

The English Conversation Program and the Rec Sports will host a Battleship competition on Saturday, November 7 from 4:30 - 7 p.m. at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, in the competition pool.

Battleship is a friendly competition in which teams of 4 paddle around the pool in a canoe and try to sink other canoes by dumping buckets of water in them. All participants will be provided a life jacket. Please wear clothes suitable for swimming. Heavy clothes are not allowed (jeans, sweatshirts, sweatpants.) Clothing suggestions include shorts, bathing suits, t-shirts and leggings.

Registration is now open. It is recommended to form teams of four students when you register. Only one team member needs to sign up and include the names of the other three teammates. If you do not have a group and you still want to participate, you may sign up as an individual and we will place you with a group the day of the event.

The 2015 International Photography Competition has come to a close and the top 40 photos have been selected for the 2015 International Photography Exhibition. You can view the top 40 photos on Facebook and vote for your favorite by “liking” it. The photo with the most likes in each category by November 13 at noon will be the People’s Choice Award winners.

The 2015 International Photography Exhibition will be on display on the first floor of the Ohio Union outside of the Great Hall Meeting Room from December through January. A special reception to honor all photographers who participated in the competition and to reveal our first, second and third place winners in each category as well as an overall “Best in Show” will be held at the Ohio Union in December.

This year’s competition had over 400 submissions from over 30 different countries in the categories of People, Places and Buckeye Pride Worldwide. Thanksgiving Dinner VolunteersThe Ohio State University will host one of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus on Thursday, November 26, in the Archie Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union. The annual event estimates 1,600 guests will attend, including the students, faculty and staff, along with their families, who are unable to travel home for the holiday. Joining them will be many volunteers throughout the university community to assist in serving the traditional turkey dinner. Volunteers are needed for two shifts from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. The deadline to register is Monday, November 2. Join the Office of International Affairs for a trip to the annual Circleville Pumpkin Show on Friday, October 23. The festival will include pumpkin sculpting demonstrations, live musical performances, tasty pumpkin treats and award winning pumpkins weighing over 1,000 pounds.

All students are welcome to sign up for the trip at 100 Oxley Hall. The first 40 students to sign up will attend, and other students will be able to put their names on a waiting list.

Students who attend should meet the group at the Ohio Union South Loop at 4 p.m. to take the bus to Circleville, OH. All transportation will be free, but students will be responsible for the cost of any items purchased at the festival. If you have any questions, please contact Ryan Radebaugh.
