Taste of OSU is an Ohio State signature event that provides international student organizations the opportunity to showcase their diverse food and culture to thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members that attend each year. This year the event will take place on February 17, 2017 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Ohio Union.

Ohio State international organizations can now apply to participate in the following categories: preparing and serving international dishes, displaying cultural booths, performing interactive activities or performing on stage. Those looking to apply should read all guidelines carefully.

To apply for a food or cultural booth please visit go.osu.edu/culturalbooth, and to apply to perform an interactive activity or to perform on state visit go.osu.edu/cultureperformance.

Applications close on November 1, 2016 at midnight.

Thanksgiving Dinner VolunteersThe Ohio State University will host one of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus on Thursday, November 24, in the Archie Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union. The annual event estimates 1,600 guests will attend, including the students, faculty and staff, along with their families, who are unable to travel home for the holiday. Joining them will be many volunteers throughout the university community to assist in serving the traditional turkey dinner on actual Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed for two shifts from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 2.

Global Buckeye CelebrationCelebrate the beginning of a new school year while welcoming more than 2,000 international students to campus! Join us on Friday, August 19 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the RPAC for our annual Global Buckeye Celebration.

This year's celebration will include inflatable games, international dancing, Zumba fitness and Ohio State trivia competitions, pizza, games, prizes and more as we welcome these new students to campus and get ready for the beginning of autumn semester.

The Ohio State University is one of four finalists for the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities’ inaugural institutional award for Global Learning, Research & Engagement. The award recognizes institutions as innovators in their comprehensive efforts to internationalize their campuses. Arizona State University, the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Minnesota also are finalists. The winner will be announced during the 2016 APLU Annual Meeting November 13-15 in Austin, Texas.

We deeply appreciate being among the four national finalists of the APLU’s inaugural award for Global Learning, Research & Engagement,” said Executive Vice President and Provost Bruce A. McPheron.

Carlos Mendez and Daniella VieiraThe University of Chicago was the setting for BrazUSC, the largest conference for Brazilian students studying in the United States. Ohio State students Daniella Vieira, a senior majoring in finance from Vitoria, Brazil and Carlos Mendez, a junior majoring in biomedical engineering from Dayton, both attended the conference in April 2016 with support from the university’s Brazil Gateway.

BrazUSC also is the flagship conference of the national Brazilian Students Association (BRASA), which serves as a network for Brazilian students in the United States. Vieira, president of Ohio State’s BRASA chapter, and Mendez, treasurer, both hoped to gain knowledge and motivation at the conference and foster new connections.
