The Office of International Affairs is seeking both American and international students to volunteer as Global Ambassadors. Global Ambassadors are a diverse team of students committed to promoting cultural exchange at The Ohio State University. As volunteers with the Office of International Affairs, Global Ambassadors demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Office of International Affairs, which seeks the engagement of students, staff and faculty in the global Ohio State community.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance is a union of Big Ten universities that fosters cooperation across state lines and tackles mutual challenges they experience.

On April 6 - 7, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) represented Ohio State in hosting administrators from 12 of the member universities in the Fourth Annual Summit on Integration.

The alliance is composed of The Ohio State University, University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Northwestern University, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Office of International Affairs is committed to supporting and assisting the university community with international related-concerns. In light of the recent Executive Order and its implications for our university community, we want to provide additional information and resources for those students, faculty and staff who are affected or who may have concerns.

The Executive Order has suspended entry into the United States for non-immigrants and immigrants who are nationals of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The period of suspension is 90 days from the date of signing of the executive order on January 27, 2017. The Department of Homeland Security has indicated that it will generally permit permanent residents ("green card" holders) from these countries to enter the United States. However, permanent residents from these countries may be subject to additional scrutiny and questioning upon entry to the United States.

Taste of OSU is an Ohio State signature event that brings together more than 50 student organizations to provide a night of international food, cultural performances and exhibits to a crowd of about 4,000 attendees. This year, Taste of OSU will take place on February 17 from 5 – 8:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union.

All are invited to attend and entry to the event is free. Attendees can purchase (cash and BuckID only) $1 tickets to sample the array of international dishes prepared by the student organizations along with Student Life’s Dining Services chefs.

Each organization that will serve international cuisine, exhibit a cultural display or perform a dance or activity will embrace flavors and characteristics of their home countries represented by their organization.

The Office of International Affairs is now accepting applications for Orientation Leaders – a diverse group of students who welcome new international students to Ohio State and the city of Columbus. Students who apply must be available to work 36-38 hours per week from Monday, July 24 - Sunday, August 20, 2017.Students selected as Orientation Leaders will be responsible for welcoming new international students, answering questions on a variety of topics such as transportation, life on campus and things to do in Columbus, while also leading orientation events and activities.
