Memorandum of Understanding Between The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. and Jain University, Bangalore, India

Purpose/Objective

             In accordance with a mutual desire to promote further cooperation in higher education between the United States of America and India, Jain University, Bangalore, India and The Ohio State University on behalf of its College of Arts and Sciences, Columbus, Ohio, USA enter into this formal agreement.

             The mentioned institutions have found it mutually beneficial to initiate a series of cooperative activities that may include:

1.            Exchange of theses, teaching materials, and other scientific and technological literature;

                OSU has embarked on a global outreach program employing digital e-learning. JU and OSU will identify disciplines and courses that can be developed collaboratively for digital e-learning

2.            Research collaboration;

                JU and OSU shall endeavor to establish the following centres for collaborative research which will be located at the Jain University (i) Atomic Astrophysics and (ii) Biomedical Sciences

3.            Exchange of faculty, scholars, and students for lecturing, advanced studies and research and;

4.            Conduct of joint workshops, symposia, etc. on topics of mutual interest;

 

Duration of the agreement

             This MOU shall take effect from the date of the last signature hereto and shall be valid for five (5) years. It may be renewed for an additional five years if both institutions, acting independently, agree in writing to renew it at least six (6) months before it expires. It may be terminated by either party by giving three months’ notice in writing of its desire to do so to the other Party, subject to the proviso that any ongoing projects under the MOU will be allowed to continue to their conclusion.
