NAFSA's Live Webinar on The Role of International Education in Peacebuilding

Historical Sound Recording of Traditional Slovenian Music and the Development of Polka in America
4 – 5:30 p.m.

This lecture by Drago Kunej will focus on recorded dance tunes from the ’20s and ’30s. Such recordings represent invaluable ethnomusicological and ethnochoreological materials, are the oldest sound recordings of Slovenian instrumental traditional music and have an enormous cultural and documentary value. 

Recipe for Success: Basic Ingredients for Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate Research Forum (Mershon Center for International Security Studies)

Opportunity to join a panel of Mershon Center affiliated faculty and the Undergraduate Research Office for an interdisciplinary discussion on the basic ingredients of a good undergraduate research project. Helene Cweren, associate director of the Undergraduate Research Office at Ohio State, will serve as discussant for the panel. Panel members will cite examples of good undergraduate research projects and address

Entre Nos

"Entre Nos" is a support group for Latino and Latina students. This space is open for attendees to share their story “en español” or in English, discuss the cultural values, explore relationships with others, including friends and family, and process the experience of being a Latino or Latina college student at Ohio State.

Latin American Romantic Comedies Film Series: O.S Mulheres ao Mar

The Center for Latin American Studies presents: S.O.S. Mulheres ao Mar (Cris D'Amato, Brazil, 2014). In this film, a recently separated woman (Giovanna Antonelli), encouraged by her sister, follows her estranged husband on a cruise to try to win him back. The screening will have an introduction by Isis McElroy, PhD, a visiting assistant professor at The Ohio State University.

Russian Film Series: Kandahar
6 p.m. 
125 Mendenhall Lab

A Russian air freighter shipping ammunition to Afghanistan is forced to land in the airport of Kandahar for a security screening. After banned weapons are found onboard, the crew is taken prisoner. A film based on the true story of a Russian flight crew’s attempt to escape from Taliban fighters in Afghanistan 1996. Film will be shown in Russian with English subtitles.

Faculty and Staff Education Abroad Ambassador Training

11th Annual International Scholar Research Exposition
Bricker Hall, 1st and 2nd floor

The display is on the first and second floor of Bricker Hall, near the Office of the Vice President of Research. Current international J-1 visiting scholars to The Ohio State University were invited to submit research summaries and from those, 34 finalists were asked to create research posters for display. The posters will be on display in Bricker Hall during November and December 2016.
