Continuing Medical Education Program on Kidney Biopsy

Ohio State and P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Research Centre partnered to organize a continuing education medical program on renal pathology. Anjali Satoskar, associate professor in the Department of Pathology in the College of Medicine, teamed up with Hinduja’s Chitra Madiwale, MD, a consultant histopathologist and Jatin Kothari, MD, a consultant nephrologist and transplant physician, to collaborate on the planning. ‘Kidney Biopsy: An Update’ was held on March 23-24 in Mumbai.

The program featured 12 sessions, 33 speakers, six presentations by invited faculty from India and Ohio State’s College of Medicine including, Anjali Satoskar, MD, and Uday Nori, MD, as well as additional local practicing pathologists in Mumbai. There was active participation from members of the Mumbai Nephrology Group as well. More than 170 nephropathologists, nephrologists, histopathologists and renal transplant specialists attended.

Speakers provided noteworthy updates on various aspects of non-neoplastic kidney disease, biopsy processing, biopsy patterns and diagnostic pitfalls, insights and learnings from experienced practicing nephropathologists and nephrologists. Panel discussions were interactive and thought provoking for the participants. The program concluded with a nephropathology quiz with certificates awarded to the winners.
