Satoskar in India to Plan International Conference

SatoskarSpearheaded by Abhay Satoskar, professor in the College of Medicine, and in partnership with the Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital in Vile Parle, Mumbai, the India Gateway is organizing an International Emerging Infectious Diseases Conference. Infectious diseases are a leading cause of death worldwide and a major threat to our food supply and natural resources. Modern science has the potential to end this threat, but the challenge demands a strategic, efficient use of talent and resources and a global commitment to get it done. With its team-based approach, expertise in an unmatched range of disciplines including microbiology, and a comprehensive research agenda built around highly interconnected thematic programs, Ohio State’s new Infectious Diseases Institute is meeting the infectious disease challenge.

The conference on December 1 - 2 promises to be a meeting of experts on infectious diseases from India, the United States, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka and will see participation of multiple hospitals, institutes and regulatory agencies. Abhay Satoskar and Anjali Satoskar, associate professor in the College of Medicine, who are both on the Scientific Committee of the conference, have visited India to begin the planning process with the Nanavati Hospital.
