India Gateway Emerging Partnership with Govardhan Eco-village

During his time in India, Bakshi had the opportunity to tour Govardhan Eco Village (GEV), a 70-acre sustainable farming community and retreat center in the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountains, 108 kilometers north of Mumbai. He was accompanied by IIT-Bombay faculty Yogendra Shatri and Biplab Patnaik, founder and managing director of Life Link. Created in 2003, GEV is an award-winning eco-community where the technology of modern science combines with Vedic wisdom. It provides a sustainable solution to the ecological crises the world is currently facing.

Bakshi learned a great deal about the GEV, and was able to hear a presentation at the conference delivered by Gaurang Das, director of the GEV, as he discussed the challenges of creating a sustainable farm community.

The visit gave Bakshi a clear understanding of the working eco-village farm community and he was able to discuss the potential for collaboration between Ohio State and GEV in the area of sustainability.

Priya Vasant Kurle, assistant director of the Ohio State India Gateway, arranged and facilitated the engagement and will play a key role in upcoming collaboration projects.
