Anjali Satoskar and the India Gateway met with collaborators at the P.D. Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Chitra Madiwale and Tester Ashavaid, director of the Department of Lab Medicine, planned a day and a half renal pathology workshop on March 23 – 24.

This teaching course is designed for postgraduate trainees in pathology and nephrology and will be extended to interested medical students and faculty members. The course will have short didactic lectures, small case presentations and panel discussions of cases on key topics in renal pathology and will be conducted by an expert team of five pathologists and one transplant nephrologist. For enabling insightful deliberations there will be representation from the practicing nephrologists community in India. This is a collaborative effort between the pathology departments at the P.D. Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai and The Ohio State University Medical Center and will be aided by the India Gateway.

The Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital chief operating officer Rajendra Patankar and medical superintendent Ashwini Jogade invited visiting Fisher College of Business faculty to speak about patient safety. Aravind Chandrasekaran, academic director of the Master of Business Operational Excellence program, shared best practices from his research around patient safety conducted at the Wexner Medical Center and other medical clinics and hospitals in the United States.

ArvindMIQThe Fisher College of Business engaged participants at the Nashik campus of Mahindra Institute of Quality on Operational Excellence for an external certification program as part of their postgraduate diploma in Operations Management.

The two sessions on Toyota processing systems and problem solving included case studies conducted by Aravind Chandrasekaran, academic director of the Master of Business Operational Excellence program. There were more than 20 participants at the two-day residential program and the group had an average of 10 years of experience from diverse backgrounds including engineering, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, operations and finance.
