OSUMichiganGameWatchBuckeyes across India gathered with fellow alumni to watch The Game on November 30. For the most highly anticipated football game of the season, the India Gateway and the India Alumni Club sponsored and organized Ohio State versus The Team Up North watch parties in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Pune.

Over 50 alumni cheered on the Buckeyes at the events, and a few Michigan alumni joined the watch parties.

PadminiGil webSridhar Narayanan ‘96 PhD from Bangalore is the founder, director and chief executive officer of the Foundation for Neglected Disease Research, a charitable organization dedicated to the discovery and development of drugs and diagnostics for tuberculosis, malaria, leishmania and dengue which are all listed among the World Health Organization’s top 17 neglected tropical diseases that affect more than 1 billion people worldwide. Narayanan has raised over $5 million in donations and grants and built a healthy pipeline of drug candidates including human trials for tuberculosis. The Foundation for Neglected Disease Research is a recipient of the Longitude Prize Discovery Award for its research to differentiate between bacterial and viral infections and was selected as one of the top 50 startups in India in 2017. Over his almost two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Narayanan has overseen 18 clinical candidates and out-licensed some to companies like Lilly, Merck Serono and Sanofi to generate revenues in excess of $180 million.

Ghosh Ohio State webThe India Gateway and the Sustainability Institute hosted Anirban Ghosh, chief sustainability officer of the Mahindra Group, at Ohio State in September.

During his visit, Ghosh was introduced to experts who could assist the Mahindra Group in furthering their progress in the area of sustainability.

Among other Ohio State researchers, Ghosh met with Scott Shearer, chair of the Department of Food, Agriculture, and Biological Engineering, and Victoria (Qian) Chen, assistant professor, to discuss the future of farm equipment including tractors, how to develop forms of concrete that use less embodied energy as well as dehumidification of solar panels.
