BajaUnveiling smallThe Ohio State University is no stranger to motorsports and is home to their own successful Baja student organization. The India Gateway didn’t have to think twice about accepting the invitation to visit with the all-women Baja team from the Cummins College of Engineering for Women in Pune, India on January 17. The team will participate in the Society of Automotive Engineers International’s competition for the first time on April 11 - 14 in Cookeville, Tennessee.

The Center for Automotive Research Director Giorgio Rizzoni and Cummins Global Technical Operations Executive Director Paul Sowerby unveiled the Cummins College 2019 vehicle, and the team gave a demonstration. Rizzoni received exclusive access to inspect the vehicle from the driver’s seat and spent quality time coaching the team.

CSIOVisit smallIsh Gulati, neonatologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and assistant professor at the Wexner Medical Center, visited neonatal intensive care hospitals and met with consulting and resident doctors in Mumbai, Delhi and Meerut.

He discussed the challenges in neonatology and offered suggestions while sharing some best practices from his own work with hospitals in Columbus. This meeting was helpful for Gulati in focusing efforts towards employing tele-counseling that would allow more rhythmic engagement on specific topics and could lead towards tele-medicine.

SIAT Keynote smallThe Ohio State Center for Automotive Research Director Giorgio Rizzoni was invited to be a keynote speaker at the sixteenth Symposium of International Automobile Technology on January 16 – 18 in Pune, India.

Rizzoni spoke about smart mobility, covered technology advancements in electric vehicles and the research and work being conducted at Ohio State. He also met with the local leadership of Cummins and Eaton and academic partners at the Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay.
