Ohio State and IIT-Bombay Present Research at Workshop in MumbaiSteven Ringel, associate vice president and Institute of Materials Research executive director at The Ohio State University, recently visited Mumbai on December 18, 2018, for the third annual workshop between IIT Bombay and The Ohio State University. The workshop was jointly chaired by Ringel and Rajiv Dusane, dean of International Relationships at IIT Bombay. The workshop was held at IIT Bombay campus in Powai, Mumbai, India. Researchers, scientists and professors from IIT Bombay and Ohio State attended and presented their research at this workshop.

Director of IIT Bombay Devang Khakhar presented opening remarks followed by a discussion on the successful joint partnership between IIT Bombay and Ohio State. Sanjay Krishnan, George R. Smith chair in engineering and professor of electrical and computer engineering, presented his research work on developing portable infrared imaging systems for defense and commercial applications for early detection of skin cancer.

Professors from IIT Bombay also discussed various research work in material science and electronics such as photovoltaics, science and application of electronic materials in energy, electronics and optoelectronic technologies, defect engineering in semiconductors and development of methods for trap spectroscopy, substrate engineering, translational materials and its role in global innovation in solar energy, next generation electronics and general technology development.

Priya Kurle, assistant director of the Ohio State India Gateway, arranged and facilitated the engagement and will play a key role in upcoming collaboration projects.
